NYC is a delicious city for gluten-free eatin’ – but it’s not the only one. With the help of some really great friends, I’ve compiled a “must-try” San Francisco restaurant list.

The highly recommended chicken at Zuni Cafe - just one of a whole wish list of San Fran restaurants waiting for Pasta.
All of these spots have come highly recommended and with the understanding of my dietary restrictions. My friends Joe and Maryann have chosen these spots in full knowledge of my gluten-free, dairy-free diet, maintaining that the menus and staffs at these places will be more than accommodating. I can’t promise I’ll be able to hit them all, but they’ve become a wish list of sorts for me. Take a look:
- Located in Downtown/ Financial district
- Tyler Florence’s new place in SF
- Comfort food done well
- Former Chef de Cuisine at French Laundry
- A couple months old
- Great spot in small location in the Mission
- All local fresh ingredients/ prix fixe menu that changes daily
- New location of an old favorite neighbourhood spot
- Chef Chris Cosentino in Noe Valley
- Rustic Italian fare
- A pretty, upscale neighborhood restaurant in Presidio Heights
- Contemporary American menu
- Hayes Valley spot with a local, organic menu
- A classic SF restaurant in the Castro/Mission District
- The chicken is fantastic
Have you been to any of these? Let me know – I’d love to post your comments and reviews here at Pasta’s Kitchen! Just send ‘em in as comments below, posts or tweets and I’ll put them up as soon as possible.
